Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also respectfully regarded as Mahatma Gandhi is a beloved name in every household of India. He is also regarded as the “Father of the nation” in regards to his endless contribution to the struggles of aligning the country in its fight for freedom and carrying the charge until the very point when India finally gained Independence. He was born on 2nd of October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat at the house of Putlibai and Karamchand Gandhi.
After completing his education, Gandhi ji practiced law in South Africa for a long period of time where he faced with a lot of social issues including inequality and exploitation, which led him to start a peaceful non- cooperation movement with the help of local population. Upon his return to India, Gandhi ji was saddened by the state of affairs under British dominance and decided to use his path of non-violence to fight for the rights of women, children and men all equal.
The fight soon became a struggle for complete freedom and it included the Iconic dandi march, satyagrah and other large public movements under his guidance. Through his journey of struggle and peaceful non co-operation, it was on 15thof august 1947 that Gandhi ji achieved his dream of complete independence of India.
